2024 Entertainer Highlights

John Wing

John Wing was born during the Diefenbaker administration and grew up in the booming metropolis of Sarnia, Ontario. John Wing’s comedy career began in Toronto in 1980, and by the mid-80s he was headlining clubs across North America.

In 1987, John went to L.A. for the first of what is now over 300 television appearances. In 1990, he got what all performers dream of – his first shot on the Tonight Show. He has performed on The Tonight Show six times (once with Johnny Carson) and was a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent in 2013. John is a regular performer at many comedy festivals, including the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and the Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver, Halifax, and Fort St. John festivals.

John has published a number of poetry books and memoirs, including one called Ventriloquism For Dummies which is a memoir of his first ten years as a comedian. He has also released a number of comedy CDs. John is a regular performer in Las Vegas, as well as cruise ships all over the world, and is a regular on CBC’s ‘The Debaters.’

Valdy

Valdy, born Valdemar Horsdal in Ottawa, Canada has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for almost 40 years. He’s a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.

Remembered for “Play Me a Rock and Roll Song”, Valdy has sold almost half a million copies of his 13 albums, has two Juno Awards, a total of seven Juno nominations and four Gold albums to his credit.

Valdy’s recent CDs include Contenders, a collaboration with friend and fellow singer/songwriter, Gary Fjellgaard, and a solo release, Viva Valdy: Live at Last, a two-CD package, one live, one studio, with a total of 25 tunes, and a lyric booklet. His past television appearances include Canada AM and Open Mike with Mike Bullard, and he also played a lead role in an episode of The Beachcombers television series.

Michelle Wright

From her professional beginnings as a teenager to the present day, Canadian-born singer Michelle Wright has steadily grown into an entertainer of the highest rank. She is one of Canada’s most widely recognized and awarded female country singers of the 1990s, having amassed a total of twenty-five Top Ten hits in her homeland and walking to podiums in music centres like Los Angeles and Toronto to accept more than thirty major awards. Selling nearly two million albums in North America and enjoying an international career, Michelle is the first Canadian artist in the modern era of country music to have a Top Ten hit in America (Take it Like a Man, 1992) and a number one video on CMT-USA.

Jimmy Flynn

Jimmy Flynn is your next door neighbour, your funny uncle and a lively entertainer all rolled into one. In his trademark red-checkered shirt, yellow sou’wester and rubber boots, he hits the stage like a storm. In fact, you might want your own hat and boots, because in a matter of seconds, you’ll be caught in a flash flood of jokes and music. The only time you won’t be laughing is when you’re singing along with him and the rest of the audience.

“I never get tired of people telling me how much fun they had at one of my shows,” says Jimmy. “That’s what keeps me going. If I can brighten somebody’s day, or help them forget what was bothering them when they came in, then I’m happy.” Jimmy’s down-home music always strikes the right chord with his audiences, and his stand-up comedy is fast-paced and hilarious.

His live shows are only one aspect of his highly successful career. Jimmy became a popular radio and television personality during the early 1990’s. To date, he has produced and broadcast over 300 radio shows, a 13-week television series, three feature length videos which have gone double and triple platinum, seven gold CDs, a Christmas recording for children and a four time best selling joke book. Now, he is so closely identified with having a good time that he is known as Canada’s Ambassador of Good Cheer!

Crystal Gage

Crystal Gage is a country music entertainer from Windsor, Ontario with more than 25 years in the business she now performs more than 250 high energy, audience-engaging shows per year.

Crystal has opened for artists such as Big & Rich, Emerson Drive and Gretchen Wilson and has won several singing contests, including CMT’s Karaoke Star, from which she used the grand prize to finish and release an album, “Dust to Diamonds.”

Crystal currently spends her winters touring Florida with her husband, Ryan St. Denis, an accomplished fiddler and entertainer in his own right. The couple fills the rest of their time performing at fairs, festivals and banquets while still finding time to raise their twin daughters, Daisy and Emily.
